In this series of articles on addiction, we reviewed the various causes of addictive disorders. These causes of addiction form the foundation for the various types of treatment approaches that we are about to discuss. We also reviewed the diagnostic process.

We will discuss the many different solutions to the problem of addiction. There are many paths to recovery. Treatment is only one of these paths. We discuss these different paths to recovery based on the evidence of their effectiveness. What works? At the end of this chapter, we provide the reader a practical step-by-step guide to recovery.
